When the world turns a deaf ear or scorns our proclaiming the gospel, keep preaching/teaching (2 Timothy 4:2)
When our acts of kindness are ignored or greeted with a smirk, keep showing kindness (Proverbs 19:22).
When our Christian example is laughed at or ridiculed, keep being a faithful example (Matthew 5:16).
When kind words are greeted by a gruff response, keep speaking kindly (Proverbs 16:24).
Sometimes, it’s easier saying these things than doing them, but hopefully the following words will be of encouragement to us all:
May we “with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 15:6), for we seek to honor and serve Him.
May we “Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men” (Romans 12:17-18), for this is God’s desire for us.
And, may we “not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those of the household of faith” (Galatians 6:9-10), for it is those who remain faithful that God rewards.
